Choose from among the following webmail packages. Please also check the
various notes following the list.
PLEASE BE SURE YOU HAVE CONFIGURED A PROFILE AS INDICATED BELOW
- SquirrelMail
- The latest stable release of the popular SquirrelMail package.
This is a fairly robust webmail package that does not require
extensive browser capabilities.
- MV's webmail (note, now phased out and not available;
this old note left for information purposes for a while.)
- The original MV webmail program. While this is being phased out,
you may still need to access it for various reasons
(including updating server-side filter preferences).
(There will be one more webmail package coming at at some point.)
Profiles
Each webmail package maintains its own profile information. If you make
use of more than one of these webmail packages, note that you need to
configure each one separately. The first time you visit any of them,
please spend some time to configure some common options including
your primary email address (which will be seen on any outgoing mail that
you sent). The webmail package will not be able to guess what email
address you want to appear as your return address -- you must tell it.
Bookmarking
If you add a bookmark (as you probably will want to do), we think it's best
if you bookmark this page rather than the specific package you choose. That
way you'll be able to see any changes that are made here.
If you do bookmark this page, we also think it's best if you use the
URL that got you here, i.e.:
rather than the page that you were redirected to, since the redirected
page may change. Likewise, if you bookmark one of the specific webmail
package, it would be better to bookmark the URL given in the list above,
rather than bookmarking the page that you land on after clicking that
URL. For many browsers, one typical way to bookmark the link is to right-click
on it and choose "bookmark" on the menu that comes up; another is to drag
the link to your bookmark bar or bookmark list.
